Enrolment Structure

Entry into New Horizons Preschool is open to children aged 3–5 years.

New Horizons Preschool is a standalone early childhood program. We are unable to offer enrolments as “additional days” for children already attending a school-based kindergarten program.

Families with kindergarten-aged children are welcome to explore Omilea, our kindergarten alternative pathway.

Yearly Rhythm

New Horizons Preschool operates across 48 weeks of the year and closes for four weeks during the summer Christmas period. Our preschool year recommences in late January as we begin the new school year together as a community.

Enrolments include all weeks of operation across the calendar year.

Attendance Patterns

At New Horizons Preschool, attendance patterns are intentionally designed to support continuity, relationships, and deep engagement in inquiry learning.

Our core inquiry work unfolds across two learning blocks each week:

• Mondays and Tuesdays
• Thursdays and Fridays

These blocks allow children to revisit ideas, continue project work, strengthen collaborative relationships, and engage in longer-term investigations over time. Consistent attendance patterns support children in developing a strong sense of belonging within their group community and ensure they are able to fully participate in the rhythm and progression of ongoing inquiry work.

Wednesdays hold a slightly different identity within the weekly rhythm, offering opportunities for connection, mixed experiences, and a different pace within the preschool week.

For this reason, attendance patterns are structured intentionally rather than offered as casual or interchangeable days.

Preschool Enrichment Program

• 5 day attendance (Monday to Friday)
• 4 day attendance (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
• 3 day attendance (Monday to Wednesday) or (Wednesday to Friday)
• 2 day attendance (Monday and Tuesday) or (Thursday and Friday)

Omilea Program

Kindergarten alternative pathway

Children are required to be 4 years old by 1 January and not attending another school-based kindergarten program.

Core Attendance

• 3 day core attendance (Wednesday to Friday)

Additional attendance options on Mondays and/or Tuesdays may also be available.
